With the job as curatorial assistant for dOCUMENTA (13) came my first proper smart phone. Whenever I took it out of my pocket, the camera was still on from the constant stream of images I was taking. The first thing I saw through the lens of my phone was the floor, the Kassel floor in its many variations. I started to press the button and did not stop until I left the job.
Thus these ubiquious visual notes of floors that form a path through Kassel as well as through the production of dOCUMENTA (13) might resemble the original dOCUMENTA (13) series „100 Notes, 100 Thoughts“ of notebooks that preluded the exhibition in a conceptual way. It sure does on a visual level as blank notebooks with the series’ design published as merchandise were used for this artist book.
My mother made the slipcase.
